The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Lead Developer – AI Solutions to play a key role in leading the design and delivery of customer-facing AI solutions, from early concept through to product deployment.

It is a true hands-on senior engineering role you’ll be expected to apply existing AI technologies—including LLMs, machine learning models, and retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) to these new AI features.

While this role does not have direct reports, it carries strong leadership expectations. You’ll act as a technical leader: mentoring others, uplifting team capability, and helping define best practices for AI within Buildxact.

The role is ideally located in Melbourne, but is open to interstate applications if the skill set strongly aligns with the role requirements.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead the implementation of applied AI solutions, including LLMs, prompt/context engineering, RAG, and model evaluation
  • Design and deliver customer-facing, production-grade AI solutions
  • Own AI capabilities end-to-end, from solution design through deployment and iteration
  • Partner with the Product team to translate real customer needs into scalable outcomes
  • Provide technical leadership by mentoring developers and setting best practices
  • Drive continuous improvement and positive change through strong technical judgement

You’ll thrive if you have:
  • Proven experience in integrating LLMs and machine learning into production environments
  • Proven capability in prompt and context engineering, with an iterative, quality‑driven approach
  • Experience owning solutions end-to-end in SaaS or cloud-based products
  • Experience in C#, ASP.NET Core, EF Core, and the .NET ecosystem (Semantic Kernel, MCP, or Microsoft Agent Framework is highly regarded
  • A collaborative mindset, customer focus, and passion for building high‑quality software
